Advertising in the forums
Advertising of any kind is not allowed without permission.

We have many many thousands of pages of content. Each must have its proper place. An event that has not yet taken place should be placed in the diary, where another user may rightly expect to find it.

Consider, You hear about an event too late because it was advertised in the forums and quicky dropped off when people lost interest in discussing "whose going" etc. The forums are not the best place to place an event for that reason alone.

If you have an event you wish to promote, do the following:

1. Submit it to the event diary, it will be posted after review by us.
2. Submit an article to the news editor, he will give home page coverage.
3. Discuss the event in the forums as you, or other users, see fit - using hyper links to point at the article and diary entry.
4. Report the event to us, gives value to the attendees and to us for promoting it. Enhances the prestige of the event.

1 & 2 give a basis of static content for 'official' information on the event, costs, dates, times, contacts, directions, any other pertinent information. 3 adds to the promotion of the event and allows for feedback before and after.

What we particularly dislike are posts made simply to bring a topic (tournament) back to the top of the list "Just bringing this back to the top". Some people try and be subtle but the net effect is the same.

People dont want to advertise in the forums, they want to advertise in the top 15 subjects that are on the home page..

There is no doubt in my mind that selfish actions of this nature are to the detrement of the site.

It does'nt take much imagination to do it effectively without spoiling the forums for everyone else. You can add a link to the article/diary entry to your signature for example.

Everything in its proper place and all interlinked - its as easy as that!

Posting new topics

Recently, the forums have gone bananas. In addition, we have had several complaints about forums going off-topic.

1. Please check before you create a new topic to ensure that one on the same subject does not already exist.

2. Please stay on subject - Threads with 160 replies are fine as long as they are all on the same subject.

3. Keep personal attacks out of the forums - this is not accpetable behaviour. In the particular case of the debate regarding someone registering as one of Annie Bowden's family members. I personally felt this was a very unacceptable forum to have in its own right.

Although there are loads of moderators, we are very light with our moderation.

Please don't make us become heavy handed. Moderate yourselves.

Pornography
We will not accept posts of a pornographic nature (either graphical or text based) at any time.
